Marshmallow Tower Project

In the Marshmallow Tower Project we were asked to assemble the highest self supporting tower using only twenty pieces of spaghetti, a yard of tape, a yard of string, and one marshmallow. We had only 18 minutes to complete this task and of course, we won. We started off by discussing the different approaches to our winning tower. After agreeing on a plan, we each began the process of taping multiple pieces of spaghetti together in order to create a sturdy base. Then we made the supports by off setting two pieces of spaghetti to create tall, sturdy legs. In the end, we were able to put all four legs in the marshmallow which created a pyramid that connected to the base.

This project allowed us to display certain teaching standards such as the facilitation and inspiration of student learning and creativity. We were able to promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
